What is LLTS (Limited Long-Term Support)? ​

When a new major version supersedes a software version, the older version enters LLTS, or Limited Long-Term Support. This is a transitional status designed to give existing users time to upgrade, not a reason to stay on an older version indefinitely.

LLTS is limited in time, scope and priority. Specifically:

  • LLTS support, like all support, requires an active maintenance and support plan on the license.
  • Support requests for LLTS versions are handled after those for the current version.
  • No feature development occurs. Bug fixes are rare exceptions, reserved for critical issues with no viable workaround, and are never guaranteed.
  • Nothing else is guaranteed either, including the reactivation or reissue of a license. When a request cannot be handled within LLTS, the remedy Syncplify offers is the upgrade to the current version: an active plan includes it, together with a free license code for that version.
  • LLTS has a firm termination date. After that date the version is retired, and no support of any kind is provided, with or without a plan, whatever license you own.

LLTS is not full coverage ​

Full coverage, meaning support, bug fixes, license reactivation and license reissue, requires both an active maintenance and support plan and the current version. LLTS only bridges the time you need to upgrade. See Maintenance and support plans explained.

A perpetual license does not change this. It lets you keep running an LLTS version, and later a retired one, for as long as nothing changes on the machine where it was activated, but it does not extend support for that version. See What a perpetual license means.

The current version receives active development, priority support, and all security and quality improvements. LLTS versions do not. If you are running a product version under LLTS, upgrading to the current version is the right move, and the sooner the better.
